Mayan Day Sign FAQ
What is a Mayan Kin number?
The Kin number is a position between 1 and 260 inside the Tzolkin, the sacred 260-day cycle. Each Kin pairs one of 20 Solar Seals (day signs) with one of 13 Galactic Tones (numbers). Your Kin describes the pattern of the day you were born.
What is the difference between Dreamspell and the traditional Mayan calendar?
Dreamspell is a modern calendar system developed in the late twentieth century, inspired by the classical Maya Tzolkin but using a fixed 365-day year and skipping leap days. Traditional Maya communities use the true Tzolkin, which does not skip leap days. This calculator uses the Dreamspell count, which is what most popular Mayan day sign readings reference.
What does my Galactic Signature mean?
Your Galactic Signature is the combination of your Solar Seal and Galactic Tone. The Seal is a symbol (Dragon, Wind, Night, Seed, and so on) that describes your natural energy. The Tone is a number (1-13) that describes the quality or rhythm of that energy. Together they suggest a reflective archetype, not a fixed identity.
Is the Mayan day sign connected to Western astrology?
No. The Tzolkin is a separate system based on a 260-day sacred count, not on the positions of the Sun or planets. Many people find the Mayan archetypes useful alongside Western or Vedic readings because the frames do not overlap — each offers a distinct lens on the same day.
